Taking off for 2024.
As we begin a new year, we’re looking back at what we shipped in 2023 and looking ahead to what’s in store for Skyscanner and our partners in 2024.
A look back at 2023
Last year, we celebrated our 20th anniversary and two decades of innovation as the pioneering global force in flight search and comparison.
Throughout 2023, in collaboration with our partners, we continued to set new standards for choice, convenience and trust. It’s perhaps one of the reasons why Skyscanner gained more market share than any other meta in the last 12 months.*
Through a combination of cutting-edge solutions and tailored partnerships, we helped over 1,200 businesses across the travel ecosystem reach more travellers and grow their brand.

Projects included
New brand building capabilities
Enhancing upper funnel search functionality to help partners differentiate their brand, highlight ancillaries and provide travellers with unique offers.
Best-in-class advertising solutions
Making Skyscanner’s marketplace the go-to destination for advertisers with advanced multi-media pages and sponsored placements to drive revenue.
Significant API investment
Improving our market-leading flight and search APIs to include baggage attributes, self-serve health and performance checks.
Experimenting with AI for travellers
In our commitment to help travellers explore our world effortlessly, we stepped into the world of trip-planning artificial intelligence – launching a generative AI discovery tool and Chat GPT plug-in, as well as helping power the next generation of AI travel tools for the likes of Bing Chat and Layla.
Back on our own platforms, ‘Explore Everywhere’ – which enables travellers to search all destinations, by date, from their chosen origin airport – ended the year as the most searched-for destination in 2023, as travellers continued to look for inspiration and value.
Looking forward to
2024
56% of travellers come to us without a destination in mind. It’s one reason why ‘Everywhere’ was the most popular destination for 2023 as travellers sought inspiration and the best value deals.
Looking forward to 2024
We kicked off the year with record travel demand, outperforming the rest of the global flights market.*** As showcased in our latest Horizons report, travellers around the world are planning to take more trips and spend more on travel in 2024 compared to last year.
Throughout 2024, we’ll continue to grow in new markets and invest in our product and technology to play a greater role at the top of the funnel, engaging and inspiring more travellers and helping our partners to build their brands with new audiences. And hopefully we’ll see you at an event or two during the year.

“We're seeing 25% more visitors a month compared with 2019, which has been helped by us localising in Arabic, Hebrew and Hindi. We’re continuing to invest around the world in teams and in capabilities.”
