  • Audio should be user initiated with the default state being muted.

  • Video must include Play and Pause. Audio must be user initiated but may contain a volume control (at zero volume to begin) in place of a mute/un-mute control.

  • Please provide HTML5 as a .zip bundle (75-100kb).  We do not recommend hard-coded click through URLs in your asset. 

  • Any .zip file must include all referenced code such as Javascript libraries.

  • For optimal performance animation and video at 15fps is recommended but rates up to and not exceeding 25 frps will be accepted

  • Reports: Please supply daily or weekly delivery reports to ensure minimum discrepancies, as impressions will be invoiced based on Skyscanner’s DFP reports (see last page for details)

  • Creative restrictions: If the creative has a search box or interactive booking panel, there must be a lead-in frame and continuous looping.  

Click tags

  • To format click through URLs, use the “click tag” variable for storing the click destination as shown in the following example: var clickTag = “www.example.com”;

  • The click tag should be placed in the .html file without minification or obfuscation. This helps the adserver find the variable easily so that it can substitute the correct value. 

  • When multiple .html files are included, the variable must be present in the first .html file that loads

  • Ads must use the clickTag variable as the destination of the click event, whether handled by anchor tags (), window.location, window.open, or any other method of navigating the user.

All Standard creative is subject to Skyscanner approval and must be supplied a minimum of 2 working days prior to live date.


All partners wishing to run a dynamic advert must be intergrated into the flight search results in order for prices to be populated.

What are the possibilities?

  • It can be set up as a standard MPU (300x250, examples 1 & 2) or as a super skyscraper (160x600, example 3)
  • Any colour is possible, as long as it has a corresponding hexadecimal code, we apply it to the advert.
  • All text is optional. If the client wishes to show only the destination, we can easily remove the outbound city.

What are the restrictions of these ads?

  • All third party tags/links/URLs MUST be HTTPS, otherwise these will not serve. 
  • We can only add single block colours to the background. We are unable to include any jpegs or gifs showing detailed images, at present.
  • The layout has a set structure which cannot be changed.
  • The ad. can only run in day view of Flights.
  • Partners MUST be set-up within our flights database in order to use a deeplink.

Click through URLs & Tracking - Deep-links

  • We can include a deep-link to any dynamic ad that has a price assigned to the route and date range searched.
  • The user will be taken to the booking page of the client’s site. This is an exact copy of what the user would see if clicking within the search options in the flight funnel.
  • All the flight information (departure dates etc.) will be included.
  • Our ad. server will record all clicks and impressions delivered, with a final report being provided at the end of the campaign.
  • Partners MUST be set-up within our flights database in order to use a deeplink. If they're not, we will use their party tracking only.

Third Party Tracking

  • If you are looking to use the in house deep-link and wish to record clicks yourself, we ask that you supply a click tracker in the similar format - https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/123456789;987654321;z?https://www.clientwebsite.com/
  • If you don’t wish to deep-link but do wish us to implement click tracking, please supply in the standard way.
  • If an impression counter is provided, we will add this to run within the ad.

  • Other sizes are available, such as 970x250, 120x60, 180x150 etc. Ask your account manager for more information on these.
  • Creative can take from 6 hours through to a couple of days to be approved by the DoubleClick Creative Team. Please factor this in when planning and booking.
  • If the creative cannot be previewed by the DoubleClick creative view team due to blocking technology or targeting in a third-party ad server it will not be allowed to be served. It must be view able to be made eligible to serve.
