More than ever, travellers want experiences they can share alongside others with similar interests, to enjoy being part of something bigger than themselves.

We’ve created Horizons in unison with our annual Travel Trends report, our consumer media-facing lowdown on the latest traveller trends shaping (and shaking up) the travel world in 2025. 

There are seven trends for next year, plus one overarching theme tying them all together: the rise of travellers seeking shared, collective experiences.

Travellers are increasingly looking to the skies to guide their next getaway, with stargazing and dark skies tourism both fascinating ways to explore the wonders of space and science.

Stretching beyond surface-level spa breaks, travellers are on the hunt for more holistic health and wellness holidays to not only recharge but to increase resilience, purpose and longevity.

Gone are the days of being a passive, hands-off consumer of the arts. Larger-than-life experiences that allow the audience to step inside the canvas to immerse themselves in a new world are becoming the norm.

Guided by their green thumbs, travellers are seeking out garden getaways that help them get back to their roots.

The freshest trend of the bunch offers the perfect break from an ever-evolving technological world. While once a casual hobby, gardening and the growing desire to return to nature are now a clear driving force behind travel plans.

Gamers are set to level up their getaways, combining their love of video games with trips to conventions and gaming hotspots.

With the release of flagship video game titles and new consoles, 2025 is set to be a massive year in gaming. And the excitement won’t just be felt in people’s homes – the world of travel will see the effects as gamers bring their online world into real life and share their love of gaming with others from around the world.

"Our latest research reveals how the search for community is reshaping travel behaviour. This sense of belonging is being explored in many ways – from roaring alongside other sports fans at an F1 race, to gasping in awe among fellow art lovers at world-famous works brought to life in new, exciting ways, to donning cowboy boots with Wild West aficionados to ride horses, pitch tents and line dance the night away.
